Late Suresh Neotia & the late Vinod Neotia started the entrepreneurial careers in the mid 50’s, trading in cement, fertilizers & petroleum products. Their hallmark was setting up and running the blue chip cement giant, Gujarat Ambuja Cements Limited.
Like his illustrious guardians, the young scion Sri Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman Ambuja Realty Group, innovated and pioneered many firsts in real estate, healthcare, hospitality & education.
Ambuja Realty has an infallible reputation in real estate; be it residential, commercial or retail. They forged the first public private partnership model to promote social housing with Government of West Bengal. Udayan, The Condoville, their first initiative, created a new benchmark.
It attracted nationwide attention and Sri Harshavardhan Neotia was honoured with the Padmashree by the President of India in 1999.
Healthcare is an area where the group started its journey with the BNWCCC, a superspecialty Woman & Child Health Hospital on Park Street, which set a new benchmark in care of the newborn, while providing a comprehensive range of care for women. It was the first of its kind to be set up and continues to remain the best of its kind. With its continuing success, the group decided to step into other associated areas of healthcare in a phased manner. It began with Genome, the fertility clinic, followed by Neotia Mediplus in Garia, the first of a community-based retail healthcare facility chain, with the latest being GetwelPharma, a retail extension of the BNWCCC pharmacy.
With intent to reach out to the largest number of people possible, Neotia Healthcare Initiative Ltd. was launched to consolidate all healthcare activities under one corporate division, and an ambitious expansion plan charted out. This will see each of the verticals converted to multi-point resources or chains.
The infertility centre is moving to a larger stand-alone location as well as starting the first of its full-fledged branches in Siliguri. A small-scale version operates in the Garia Mediplus, and more of both, full-fledged centres and hybrid centres are on the anvil. The rate of hidden infertility is immense, and this sector is crying out for organized, good quality infertility care.
GetwelPharma has already started seven outlets in the city & is poised for expansion within the city & in Siliguri & surrounding areas. A Central Purchase model is also being developed to leverage the economies of scale. The idea is to provide a different customer experience for the people who walk in and add to the brand recognition & act as a point of contact for nearby hospitals of the group.
